About
Dave Bock - Woodworker
I've been working with wood since the mid 1980's. Back then, I used tools found in the Hobby Shops on the military bases I served on. Starting in 1992 when the hobby shops closed down I began to buy and use my own tools. Sears was my favourite place until I had just about everything they sold for woodworking. Every place I've lived, I converted the garages or carports into woodworking shops. That's half the fun, right? Building your own shop. I'm a self taught artisan utilizing books, magazines and lately the internet to learn all the various woodworking techniques. I did take a wood shop class in junior high school but I don't remember much of it. It was the 70's. Anyway, as my woodworking skill levels increased along with my military pay I was able to purchase bigger and better tools. This is how I can produce better quality products. Less sanding too!
Dave Bock - US Navy Senior Chief
I served my country with pride for 26 and a half years in the US Navy. Transferring to the fleet reserve in February of 2008 I retired as a Senior Chief Petty Officer. My job was an Aviation Electrician (AE) working on Naval aircraft for 23 out of 26 years. The other 3 years I taught AE "A" School to the Sailors and Marines just starting out. During my long and distinguished career I worked on the Lockheed S-3A and S-3B Viking for just over 20 years and the Lockheed P-3C Orion for 3 years. I deployed 6 times on aircraft carriers and 3 times to land bases in the P-3 community. I started my career in the Line Division as a Plane Captain working my way up to finishing my career as the Leading Senior Chief in charge of Maintenance Control of an aircraft squadron. I really loved working on the aircraft but what I miss the most about my service is all the great people I worked with up and down the chain of command. Hooyah!
Dave Bock - Hawg Hunter
When I'm not woodworking I'm dreaming about catching the big one. I've been fishing for as long as I can remember. Started bass tournament fishing back in the early 80's and have been associated with local fishing clubs ever since. I'm currently the Secretary/Webmaster of the Pensacola Hawg Hunters where I've been a member for the last 7 years. Check out our club web site.
